PayvandNews – Foreign biological specimens from six countries including Spain and India are being held under optimum conditions at Iranian Biological Research Center, the IBRC director said Monday.

Director of the Iranian Biological Research Center (IBRC), Abolhassan Shahzadeh Fazli, told MNA that currently 33,000 biospecimen in 27 collections are being held at the center, adding each year the number of the biological laboratory specimens is increased by ten per cent.
“Given our quite rich biorepositories, we can increase our biological production to the level where we can actually be exporters of such products to other countries,” he said.
He maintained that the IBRC has been successful in creating the optimum conditions according to international standards for holding biological specimens in its biobank; “We have managed to gain the trust of many foreign scientists across the world for storing foreign biospecimens in our biobank,” he added.
According to Shahzadeh Fazli, the six countries which send their samples to Iran include Spain, India, Belgium, Algeria, Iraq and Egypt.
“These countries have their own biobanks but Iran has better conditions for holding their samples, so they are interested in having their samples kept at the Iranian Biological Center,” he said.
The Iranian Biological Research Center was established on 4 April 2007.
